Pitcher Research

Ballpark Pal simulations rely on detailed player inputs. The table below gives access to many of these inputs (and some outputs), which are adjusted to display more user friendly. 0-125 scores are weighted from a "runs created" perspective based on how the various outcomes (HR, Single, Walk, etc) relate to scoring runs. These scores are non-linear to represent how talent is distributed across the league. Average is usually around 40. Scores higher than 100 represent the very top players in the category. All data listed here should be considered a forward-looking view of the player, not necessarily what has occurred in the past. For pitchers 0-125 scores are based on the expected outcome of pitches based on physics (velo, break, spin, location, etc). Some pitchers outperform or underperform these expectations, which the model accounts for. The model's full view of a player is best reflected in the "Outcome" section of the table.
