Located within walking distance of Lake Erie, Progressive Field is perhaps the most balanced hitter-friendly park in MLB not named
Coors Field. It has the 3rd smallest outfield in the league (after
Citizens Bank Park and
Guaranteed Rate Field) and its two distinct halves lend themselves well to favoring both home runs and extra base hits alike. On the left side, the shallow 19-foot tall fence can easily turn would-be outs into doubles off the wall. And the shorter 9-foot fence in right often fails to keep unexceptional fly balls in the yard, especially when the weather is favorable.
Speaking of weather, external conditions tend to have an impact in Cleveland as Ballpark Pal ranks Progessive 6th in park variation. The influence of wind is fairly average, but it's direction tends to vary quite a bit. It blows in (35%) just as often as it blows out (39%). Temperature is the main factor that contributes to Progressive's season-long variability as nearly 40% of games are played in temps either below 60 or above 80 degrees.
